With great regularity, I run across someone who has just been diagnosed with cancer or is fighting it. Here's one, (Name withheld) was just diagnosed with breast cancer on her 43rd birthday on July 6th, so needless to say another journey begins. We are all hopeful and optimistic that she is in early stages so keep her in your prayers.
From what I know, breast cancer patients become experts with the insidious disease. And, rightly so. Rose, my friend surely did. And, my favorite oncologist loved to give information. I often thought too much but kept it to myself but Rose wanted to know constantly her options. She did several clinical trials, I think. I read lots about how cancer survivors have done it and, in fact, just finished a book, The Middle Place. It is a memoir that is kind of coincidently about breast cancer but I liked it.
Working on Rose's book has been quite the challenge because I want it to be about her bravery and not my grief. I'm thinking that I may not end up with a book but the random thoughts of blogging as opposed to a book. Stay tuned. I cannot tell you about the hours I've spent in the Infusion Center with Rose and trying to keep myself in tact. Dang.
