The NY Times Magazine recently had a short piece from a cancer patient about waiting and patience. Not an easy thing for any of us but amplified for the seriously ill in particular. The patient, much like Lilly, my granddaughter, who wants to get on with her modeling show, patience is only one of the emotions that pops up for cancer patients working through the abyss. But, as the article points out, the waiting is inevitable and intractably tied to the disease itself. Take the dreaded test and wait three days.
Rose was the poster child for patience. I don't know how she did it. Often, on the inside, I would be kicking and screaming and cussing. Rose would greet someone even in her last days with a slight grin and OK.
