I asked the receptionist what the very creative invitation on the bulletin board meant, "Create While You Wait." She said, "we have paper and crayons, whatever you need." A project of "arts and healing" I'm sure. Not the right name but something on that order. They are great. It is music, art, support--in my estimation, one among many things, that makes UCSF at Mount Zion, i. e., the oncologist, infusion center, etc, so super. Can't remember the formal name of the arts project. Doesn't make any difference. They are doing a wonderful supportive job. If I had any artistic talent, I would be "creating while I waited" with my friends.
What I've tried to create for the last three and a half years is a book/a journal, something about the bravery of my friend Rose. It has gone through a dozen or more reiterations. I just can't seem to get it together. What happens to me mostly is that I get so sad that it renders me kind of useless. Or, simply I can't seem to turn the blog into a book which I thought would be easy. The bottom line with the blog to book is that it is more about me than Rose and I can't live with that. So, for the time being, at the suggestion of my good friend, I am putting the journal "on line" which will make it available and take care of my need to honor Rose in the larger sense.
